New Every Morning
Finding room for God before the day begins
There is something special about early morning. The quiet hours of dawn can be a time of hope, perspective and preparation. If you wrestled through the night, God promises;
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-24)
I believe we need to be stewards of these precious morning moments. That means time for study of God’s word, prayer, and quiet reflection. I know for many of us there is little opportunity to savor these moments between waking and working. Our mornings may be the reminders of what causes our stress rather than the place we can surrender them back to God.
In a small attempt to help you steward your mornings – to hear His compassions that are new every morning and rejoice in His faithfulness – I want to invite you to join me in receiving a brief devotional text to start your day.
Here’s how it works. Every morning (Monday through Saturday) I am sending a brief text (no more than 160 characters) at precisely 7am Pacific Daylight Time. The texts are short quotes or devotional thoughts meant to help you steward your morning and set your heart toward God.
Here are a few examples of texts I’ve sent in the past few weeks:
Today you will continue your journey to trust God more, submit more of your stuff to His care and enter more deeply into His joy. Travel well!
If you will surrender the need to control, and submit everything to Christ, it will be as if shackles have fallen from your wrists. May that freedom be yours!
The joyful road is trod by those who believe that God always provides. Always? Yes, always and forever. Trust Him today to meet your needs.

If you would like to join the 50 or so of us receiving these daily texts, here’s what to do.
Text the word stewards1 (no space or quotes) to 41411. You will receive a request for your name (so I can know who is on our list), then you will receive a welcome text. That’s it. Starting the next day, you will receive your devotional thought at 7am PDT.
This is just a small way I want to support and encourage you in your journey as a faithful steward. I pray these morning thoughts are a blessing to you.
